Welcome

Judo has been ongoing in one form or another on the Isle of man since the 1960's

Judo is a Japanese martial art which owes its existence to a man called Jigoro Kano who developed Judo to its present form.

Judo is practised around the world by millions of people of all ages, races and physical ability. It is equally suited for men and women as it relies on technique rather than pure strength.

Judo means different things to different people, what it means to you depends very much on your reasons for taking part and what you expect to gain.

To some judo is a fun activity, a competitive sport, a way of socialising or a fitness regime. To others it is a means of self defence, a way of challenging aggression or a form of combat. To experts like Jigoro Kano himself, judo is a way of life.
